A large number of universities and other institutions from Germany and abroad are actively working in the nature park region, or have carried out research projects here in the past. The research topics are as varied as the area itself.   

As one of the five pillars of the Nature Park, research is a fundamental part of our work. Within this context, it is important for us to:

• document the diversity and value of the natural and cultural environment and to raise awareness for its special characteristics,
• describe changes and preserve the scientific basis for the management and development of the Nature Park, and
• make findings gained in research projects accessible to the public within the framework of our educational opportunities, exhibitions and publications.

We support research projects in the region and see ourselves as an on-site point of contact and exchange platform. In some cases, we also implement our own research projects in cooperation with various partners.
